Northern Cities On The Costa Blanca Map
Consult a Costa Blanca map when planning your visit to the region. The Costa Blanca is home to many wonderful cities, both large and small. Here is a brief description of the cities from north to south. Northern Cities on the Costa Blanca Map Denia: This is the Northern most city on the Costa Blanca. Denia has a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. There are many water sports and beautiful beaches. The city is not strictly a tourist attraction. You can get a taste of authentic Spanish life while staying here. Other attractions include the Castle of Denia, toy museum and shopping on the Calle de Marques de Campo. Javea: This town lies just south of Denia. There are three different parts of the city, the village, port and beach areas. Each offers different attractions. Some of the main attractions in this city are the Inglesia de San Bartolome, which is a 12 the century church. The Museum Soler Blasco which has a copy of the treasure of Javea, which is jewelry from the past and the Cabo de Nao, a small hill with a lighthouse that offers a great view of the city. Benissa: This city offers four kilometers of coastline with quiet beaches and coves. Some are only accessible by climbing over small cliffs. The city is rich in history with old churches, hospitals and homes of nobility of the past. While visiting here, try the octopus stew, which is a specialty in the area as well as the many rice dishes and local wines. Calpe: This romantic village has two large and two smaller beaches. The beaches have fine sand and are very clean. You can enjoy swimming, water sports or just relaxing on the beach here. Other attractions include two old churches and an archaeological museum. The museum is home to finds from as early as the fourth century. On the site of the museum are ruins from Ancient Roman times. Altea: The large blue dome of the Nuestra Senora del Consuelo church is a land mark in this city. Altea has maintained the look of an older Spanish village, rather than a generic tourist town. The mountain area offers a spectacular view of the city and coastline. Five kilometers of beaches offer many quiet places to relax and unwind. Southern Cities on the Costa Blanca Map Benidorm: This city is a major tourist area, especially in the summer months. The area offers beautiful beaches and an abundant nightlife. There is a lot to do for families as well. The Terra Mitica theme park is created around the theme of five ancient Mediterranean civilizations: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands. Aqualandia water park is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. There are a variety of rides for all ages, including slides, chutes and rapids. There are also bars, restaurants and picnic areas for eating and relaxing. Villajoyosa: This city is located just south of Benidorm and is a quieter vacation spot. Villajoyosa is famous for chocolate production. The Valor brand is well known throughout Europe. The older part of the city is located on the shore and features brightly colored homes and buildings. The Royal Palm Casino is a popular destination in this area. The Festival of the Moors and Christians is held during the last week of July. There are parades, music and a reenactment of the Moorish army landing on the beach and being defeated. Alicante: Most visitors to the Costa Blanca arrive via the Alicante airport. This large city is one of the most well known in the area. Attractions here include historic buildings, museums and beaches. The city has abundant public transportation, shopping and restaurants. Torrevieja: This is the southern most city on the Costa Blanca. Torrevieja is known for its salt production, which is a major industry. Over a half million tons of salt are produced here each year. The area is home to salt baths and the museum of sea and salt. The harbor is still a busy fishing area. There is a fish auction and market in town. The seafood in the local restaurants is very fresh. This city is home to a large British community.
