Andy Griffith Show Squad Car & Rare Civil War Items in Western Auction

Fredericksburg, TX (PRWEB) June 2, 2007 -- A black-and-white 1963 Ford Galaxy squad car used on The Andy Griffith Show and important Confederate Civil War artifacts including a rare Dance Brothers dragoon revolver and a Terry's Texas Rangers badge go to auction on June 9th at the Trails of the West Show & Auction in the Texas Hill Country near Fredericksburg.

The historical Dance revolver, carried by E.H. McKnight during the Civil War, is the highlight of the firearms offered at the auction. He was a member of the famous Company K, 8th Texas Cavalry, called Terry's Texas Rangers. The Texas-made revolver, authenticated by experts, is part of a collection of items owned by McKnight including a carbine, saber, muster roll, trunk with coins, currency, photos, bullet molds and a rare Terry's Texas Ranger reunion badge. The badge according to collectors may be worth more than the revolver as it is the only one known to exist.

The Trails of the West, Collectibles & Antique Firearms Show & Auction is being held at the Trois Estate across from Enchanted Rock, Friday, June 8th through Sunday, June 10th. The estate is an old world village with Mayan architecture in the Texas Hill Country, an adventure in itself. The show is one of the best ones to hit Texas, aid Scott Franks, principal of A&S Antique Auction Company out of Waco, who is conducting the Saturday auction. "It runs all weekend and is organized by HHH Promos, with hundreds of dealers and collectors from all over the country. The show is a nice complement to the highly collectible items we have going on the auction block on Saturday."

Other highly collectible items in the auction are one of the finest hand-carved saddles ever made by S.D. Myres for '69 World Champion Steer Wrestler Roy Duval, a photo of the famous saddlemaker holding a Colt double-action, and a double set of Colt engraved pistols and holster with matching silver buckles once owned by famous Mexican movie star Pedro Infante, who was often compared to Tom Mix.

The auction offers items for all budgets and gives everyone a chance to buy a little history or decorate a western style home. There will be western furniture by local horn furniture master craftsman, David Karp, about 100 antique firearms including fine Colt single actions, other rare Confederate items, western artifacts such as an 1890-1900's mother-of-pearl inlaid gambler's box with hide-away gun drawer, a .22 cal. Derringer, ivory-handled dagger, dice and cards, Wild West Show full Indian headdress, saddles and other cowboy gear, a high-perfomance street rod, signed Tiffany lamps, estate and Indian jewelry, vintage advertising, cowboy and Indian memorabilia including a life-size cigar store Indian exhibited at the 1890 World's Fair.

The show and auction are open to the public. The auction is June 9th starting at 11 am, with free entry. Preview is Friday, 10-6 and Saturday 9-11. The show runs Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-3 with a special early buyer's pass of $35 for Friday, starting at 2pm. Regular show admission is $5, free with military ID. The Trois Estate is 1 mile south of the main entrance to Enchanted Rock State Park on FM 965, watch for signs.
